If you're a film/video educator or industry professional, we encourage you to become a member of DAFT (Digital Arts Film and Television), the sponsors of the 45th annual Michigan Student Film and Video Festival at the DIA in April. Students, Teachers and/or your School can get a membership that qualifies members for workshops and entries for the festival.

To kick off our November membership drive, George Haddad, the owner of Pro Cam in Livonia, is hosting an Educator Appreciation Night from 6:30-8:30 pm with refreshments, workshops and student discounts. George opened his Pro Cam store last spring to rave reviews for its high-end photo and video equipment.

DAFT will be on hand to offer training in Pro Cam's studio with George and his great inventory. We hope you can stop by and learn more about DAFT and meet George! You can visit Pro Cam at www.procam.com and see the equipment, knowledge and workshops that they've got to offer.

Meet a Filmmaker and F/X Pro: At Educator appreciation night, you and your students will be able to meet Scott Kodrik, founder of Creature Division FX group, a special effects and makeup artist who has worked on 32 films, including Godzilla, The Santa Clause, Jumanji, The Five Year Engagement, Mortal Kombat, Batman and Robin, and in television shows such as Hercules and the Budweiser Frogs commercials. This summer, Scott will be directing his own horror film right here in Michigan. He'll have some props from some of his movie work and will share some of his secrets. More on Scott can be found at: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1550059/
